John Lissauer, Music Composer

John is an award-winning composer, producer and instrumentalist. He was recently inducted into the Grammy’s Hall of Fame for for Producing, Arranging and Conducting Leonard Cohen’s iconic recording, “Hallelujah.” The song as been recorded over 500 times, and John’s original version topped out at #5 On Billboard’s Top 20 Singles. John has also Produced and/or arranged for such artists as Whitney Houston, Bette Midler, Luther Vandross, Manhattan Transfer, Al Jarreau and Loudon Wainwright III. He has received numerous Gold Records for his work. In addition to making records, John has composed or orchestrated more than 30 Films, including SEVEN, THE THING THAT YOU DO, and THE LAST GODFATHER. He composed the highly successful TV Animation POKEMON as well as scoring the first 3 POKEMON Movies. His TV credentials include over 1000 TV commercials and has received a slew of CLIO awards, including the rare Campaign of the Decade for his James Garner “Polaroid” compositions. John has taught composition at Yale University, as well as Kingsborough College.
